2nd Annual Baltimore Pokecon

This two day event took place in two buildings across the street from each other in Arbutus, Maryland, a southern suburb of Baltimore near the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). One held vendors that sold pokeballs, toys, plushies, and collectibles from other anime such as JoJo’s. The main building is a firehouse and there were video game contests, posters, and a cosplay contest. As competitors stood before judges, they were asked trivia questions about their specific characters.

The event had different tiers of prices and you could save if you went as a family but you had to get tickets for both Saturday and Sunday. I only went the first day as it’s a drive from DC, but it was still fun and worth the $20.

There were maybe 100 people there Saturday but these are the types of conventions where you can really get to know people and talk about common interests. The layout of the area was nice - an ice cream shop opened up that Saturday and it was also free comic book day and Universal Comics was just a few blocks away.
